Recently AMD graphic cards have been facing an issue where the driver just magically stops working.
The error message: “The version of AMD Radeon Software you have launched is not compatible with your currently installed graphics driver.”
I finally found out the best way to permanently fix this issue. The official one on the AMD page (found here) works for a while and then the error comes back. Sometimes Windows Updates overwrites newer device drivers and causes these kind of problems. You should follow the steps in the link above from the AMD website and afterwards follow the steps below.
How-to fix the problem:
- Open “Device manager”
- Find “Display adapters”
- Right click on your AMD GPU, press “Update driver”
- Press “Browse my computer for drivers”
- Select “Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer”
- Select the newer driver and click “Next”
You’ll have to wait until the driver is installed. Normally after a restart everything should work just fine. I did reinstall the whole AMD Adrenaline suite just to be sure, for future automatic updates. That’s it!
